Dear Natural Riding Art students,

To bit or not to bit... is that really a question?
Many trainers out there are finally (re)discovering bitless as the way to the Gymnasium and that makes me really happy. Alas... when using a bitless bridle that can inflict the same pain as a bit can... what is the point, really?
Therefore I would like you to read my new article 'Bitless is not always Bitless'. You can find it on the bottom right or just follow this link: *CLICK*
Feel free to place any comments on facebook!

Online courses in the Gymnasium!
More pressing news... as I get so many people with training questions who live to far a way for me to just swing by, I have decided to start online courses. For the trial and pilots... if you are interested in participating, please drop me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . I promiss I make it both worth our while!

Owen's work PDF Print E-mail

Dear Natural Riding Art students,

Today I will show you some of my great master Owen's own work from last friday.
Hope you enjoy. Any question just shoot on my facebook page or on my forum!

Owen incorporated his own invented exercice 'the stretch' into backing in Ramener:

He is slowly working on Piaffe by trying it out slowly while I only ask him to bend and lift his hind legs:

He offers the 'lifting the shoulders' freestyle while I actually only asked him to just walk or trot on the circle:

Last, we play some football together (soccer for our American friends...), He is really getting the hang of kicking the ball forward!

The whole point of Natural Riding Art is that we give the dressage movements back to the horse (where they came from in the first place) and they will present us with their own unique style of it: The art of the horse!

I am on fire! Here is the next article covering all those many questions on 'collection', 'on the forehand', why many do not succeed with 'shoulder in', the age to start a young horse and how to start over with an adult horse that needs to be rehabilitated.

Enjoy and looking forward to you comments again on my forum or facebook page!

I am going outside now and start the stable work...

Dear Natural Riding Art students,

As you might have noticed, this website is being transformed to a completely English one. I have decided to no longer keep all my websites in two languages as I just do not have time to keep up with that. So the school website is going to be completely Dutch and this website will be the international one.

Questions!
I get so many emails and messages via facebook with questions about horses and training from all around the world that I decided to write more articles on the subjects that I get the most questions about. Lately I have had many questions about food rewards. Therefore I have written an article explaining my views on the subject.
You are very welcome to let me know your thoughts and comments on my facebook page or my forum.

Here is the link to the article on Food Rewards. I hope you enjoy it!

Watch training 4 in the following 7 short movies.
